We begin to film. The biggest problem that my team and I face, is we have lots of activities and things that need to be done and we do not have time together to film. However, we decide that we will film on Monday and Wednesday.

Structure

Start with the MEANING you have noticed.

Then back it up more than one example from the clip.

Use the terminology to describe the example.

POINT: Alonzo is a dominant personality and is control of the relationship.

Examples

a) His silence at the start of the clip

b) His reaction to Jake’s story.

c) The positioning as they cross the road.

Alonzo is quite rude and very aggressive as he speaks with slang and bad words. Also in the beginning, he speaks to Jake without even looking at Jake. He seems to be powerful as when he speaks to Jake, his voice is much clearer and louder because he has confident. The shot type that is used in this scene, is extreme close up to Alonzo when he speaks which shows confidence whereas close up to Jake when he speaks which shows the lack of confidence

Jake is quite rude as well as he tries to speak while Alonzo is reading a newspaper. Also he seems to be a bit stupid because when Alonzo is being aggressive, Jake looks scared and nervous. Also he seems to be weak and lack of confident as he always wants attention from Alonzo and he seems to have nothing to do so he looks around like a weak man.

Overall Alonzo seems to have more power than Jake

• While speaking Alonzo seems to be calm and sitting comfortably whereas Jake seems to be not comfortable and nervous to talk to Alonzo when Alonzo replies with aggressive emotion
• Position when they cross the road as Alonzo is walking near the camera
• When they speak, Alonzo always has extreme close up shot whereas Jake always has close up or two shot angle.

Editing

• Use of sound effect (Synthesiser)
• Shot at buildings in the beginning to set the location (Urban) and not so peaceful

Circle - In this case, the blood droplet is circle and it is quite scary
Square - The paper is quite sharp 
Triangle - The upper parts of the legs are parallel to the human skin whilst the lower parts are perpendicular to the skin, which form a triangle; which is kind of giving the feeling of pain

I have looked at this example "Silence of the Lambs" which is really similar to the film I am about to do. I have learnt how to make audiences think that the villain is in the same place with polices actually it is not true.

Story: A mad doctor is killing his patients, seen on the news. A special task force is formed to catch this doctor. Police raid several suspected hideouts of the doctor. Doctor sees this on TV and smiles. The room he is in is very clean and sterile, but in the background, there is a woman taped to a chair, and covered in a decent amount of blood, next to her, a small table with clean surgical equipment.  Scene cuts to a car screeching to a stop with 2 detectives coming out, fully armed. They rush into a building, weapons in hand. The surgeon starts to put on his mask, and his left hand’s glove. At the same time, the detectives stack at the door. The doctor turns and looks at the door. The detective kicks the door in and move in, the room and dark and murky, but a slight figure is seen. The first detective fires at the figure, and it falls. The 2nd detective flips the lights on and turns out it was just a dummy. The room is dirty/filthy and old filled with barrels, they looked around confused. The doctor walks up to a laptop, and clicks on it. It turns on and is a security camera, looking at the detectives. One of the detectives opens the top of a barrel and an arm falls out, they both jump back stunned. One of the detectives uses his phone to dial his boss, while the other looks around and spots the camera. The doctor smiles under his mask and presses a button on his laptop. Suddenly there is a “BEEP!” in the room the detectives are in, and the barrels start lighting up with red flashes. The beep gets faster as the detectives rush out yelling “BOMB!” The doctor turns away and looks out the window, in a distant a rooftop explodes, the shockwave sends the building shaking a bit. The doctor turns around and finishes pulling on his gloves. He walks slowly towards the table, carefully picking out a hammer. He then turns towards the woman in the chair, lifting the hammer. He pauses and smirks for a second. The final shot is from the woman’s pov, as the hammer comes crashing down and it cuts to black. A police car with sirens on is heard passing and credits roll.

Detective’s Breach and Clearing tactic:

The detectives must look professional. So they will be fully equipped with tactical vests. Since Toy knows some Breach and clearing tactics, he will be teaching the other detective how to breach and clear a room properly. So that we can apply it to the film, to make it as realistic and authentic as possible.

My team and I have discovered more sound effect as well as planing more props. Also we research about how to clear a room and we have put a nice clear room clip as an example.

Media Coursework Location Scouting

Me and my group decided today to go location scouting inside the school, apart from Kelly who is sick. Toy and myself went around school. We found 2 good locations for the film, which is the Drama Department, and the medical bay. Since it was school time, we only got shots of the exteriors of the filming locations.

We both decided on the Drama Department, since it was an ideal location for acting and filming for when the detectives bust in. The medical bay's environment also fits that of a clinic, which would be perfect for a "mad doctor" to be in. We only took pictures on the exteriors, since it was school time.
